Used Car Sales

What to look for when selecting an ethical Used Car Dealer:

Every consumer is well aware of the stereotype about Used Car Salesman. Unfortunately, as with most stereotypes there is truth beneath the joke. In purchasing a used car, like all big ticket items, takes thought, research and time to make the right decision. There are hundreds of pages about what to look for in selecting a good used car so we do not want to be repetitive. The focus here is, how to select an ethical car dealer? The nice thing is that technology has made selecting an ethical used car dealer very easy.

Any ethical used car dealer will initiate showing every consumer the Carfax report for every car that is of interest. If you are a consumer interested in 3 cars and only 2 have a Carfax report that should be a red flag about the ethics of the dealership.

A very ethical used car dealer will make the buying process very simple:

  1. Salesperson shows you there inventory that matches your needs.

  2. Salesperson shows you Carfax report, Blue Book pricing and tells you the sales price on the car or cars that are of interest.

  3. Salesperson explains the warrant on the car.

If the car is a good car at a fair price, then a sale may be finalized.

There should be no games.

What to avoid when selecting a business in this industry:

  1. You should not have to play any games.
  2. You should not have to ask to see a Carfax report, it should be offered.
  3. The price of the car should not be a secret.
  4. If the price is dropped, after you say no to the higher price.
  5. There should be no pressure.

Why Central Carolina Pre-Owned was offered the opportunity to be a Business A-List participant?

Many used car dealers in the area did not want to spend the time to help us educated the consumers as to how to select an ethical used car dealer. We could take that as two ways: either they were so busy selling cars and could not invest the 15 minutes or did not want anything to do with the National Association Against Consumer Fraud visiting their dealership.

Alex Theis, one of the owners of Central Carolina Pre-Owned, spent a tremendous amount of time educating us about their industry. Alex was excited for us to run a complete background check and is proud to show the Carfax report on all of their cars.

Also, every one of their salespeople are not paid by individual sales commissions. There are no games and that was refreshing to see.
