Sunrooms

What to look for when selecting an ethical Sunroom Contractor:

The thought of adding a sunroom to a home may sound very appealing, but if you do not make a wise decision it could either turn into a nightmare or an unused room in your house.

When selecting any contractor to do work on your home you should select a contractor that:

  1. Shows you their contractor’s license before being asked.

  2. Explains the need to verify that there contractor’s license is legitimate.

  3. Shows you a copy of their insurance cover letter.

  4. Verify and actually call references.

  5. Ask to see a real project that they completed and not just look at photos.

  6. Ask how they handle problems and complaints.

  7. Understand the warranty completely.

  8. Get everything in writing, make sure what is in the contract is actually what is going into your house.

  9. Never be pressured into making a decision today.

  10. There should never be price drops. There may be an advertised sale, but if you say no and they come back with a lower price, that is a big red flag.

The important thing to understand about a sunroom is make sure that you do your research about the type of windows being used. If a mistake is made when selecting the windows the sunroom will be too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. An ethical sunroom builder will fully understand the importance of the windows and will take the time to educate you.

What to avoid when selecting a business in this industry:

  1. Contractors that do not show you there license and insurance policy.

  2. Contractors that play price games.

  3. Contractors that will not provide you a detailed estimate.

  4. Companies that ask for excessive deposits.

  5. Contractors that apply pressure.

  6. Contractors that will not let you call customers or visit their previous customers. Most happy clients are proud to show off their new sunrooms.

  7. Contractors that do not spend the time to educate you about the importance of having proper windows. We can not emphasize this enough. Do the research.

  8. You get what you pay for. If you want a sunroom, spend the money necessary to get the right windows.

After interviewing and running an extensive background check the National Association Against Consumer Fraud has awarded the following business a listing in The Business A-List:

Amazing Spaces

Why Amazing Spaces was offered the opportunity to be a Business A-List participant?

In meeting with many general contractors in the area that we felt were good ethical builders and are qualified to build a sunroom, there was one thing that most of them were missing. They were not experts in sunrooms. Gypsy Finley, the manager at Amazing Spaces went out of her way to educate about the sunroom industry. Once, educated the decision was easy. In selecting a contractor to build your sunroom, it is all about ethics and windows.
