Shutters and Blinds

What to look for when selecting an ethical shutter and blind company:

When selecting any business to do work on your next home or commercial project you should select a business that:

  1. Shows you their business license before being asked.

  2. Explains the need to verify that their contractor’s license is legitimate.

  3. Shows you a copy of their insurance cover letter.

  4. Verify and actually call references.

  5. Ask how they handle problems and complaints.

  6. Understand the warranty completely.

  7. Get everything in writing, make sure what is in the contract is actually what is going into your home or business.

  8. Never be pressured into making a decision today.

  9. Verify that what is being installed is exactly what you are paying for.

  10. Make sure they are qualified to install the shutters or blinds correctly to manufacturer’s specifications.

  11. Make sure that you know where the shutters and blinds are being manufactured. It is also important to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples. Do not trust what you are being told, please do the research.

The important thing to understand about a shutter and blind company is to make sure that you are comfortable with the company that is installing the product. If a mistake is made the warranty may be null and void. It is also our opinion to select a business with a showroom and a track record in the community.

What to avoid when selecting a business in this industry:

  1. Companies that do not show you their insurance policy. If an installer is injured on your property and the installer is not insured you may be liable. Why take that risk?

  2. Companies that play price games. It is impossible to determine a real price over the phone, many companies will low-ball the price in order to get a high pressure sales representative in your home or office.

  3. Companies that will not provide you a detailed estimate. The more detailed the better, make sure what you are actually paying for is being installed in your home or office.

  4. Companies that apply pressure.

  5. Companies that will not let you call customers. Most happy clients are happy to talk.

  6. You get what you pay for. If you want qualified and insured installers, you may need to pay a little more, but in most cases it is money well spent.

  7. Companies that make guarantees that appear too good to be true. Many companies make unrealistic claims as to delivery time.

  8. There is a tremendous amount of bait and switch being played in this industry.

  9. It can not be emphasized enough to get the whole price of the job in a detailed estimate.

  10. Make sure it is installed professionally as to manufacturer’s specifications.

Why Carolina Shutter & Blinds was offered the opportunity to be a Business A-List participant?

We have spent a tremendous amount of time meeting with shutter and blind companies in the Triangle area. This is an industry where the consumer can be taken advantage of very easily, so it is important to do your research.

Kevin Beddingfield, president of Carolina Shutter & Blinds of Raleigh, Inc., takes a tremendous amount of pride in making sure that the customer is not only treated fairly, but every installation is completed by qualified, insured installers that are employed by Carolina Shutter & Blinds.

Also, the length of employment of their sales staff and installers are quite impressive and that tells you a lot about the company and the work that they do.
