Mold Removal

What to look for when selecting an ethical mold removal company:

When selecting any business to do work on your next project for your home or business you should select a business that:

  1. Shows you a copy of their insurance cover letter.

  2. Shows a copy of their certifications. It is important to understand that mold came from moisture and a mold removal company must be certified in more than just mold removal if the job is going to be fixed correctly.

  3. Verify and actually call references.

  4. Ask how they handle problems and complaints.

  5. Get everything in writing, make sure what is in the contract is actually what is going into your home.

  6. Never be pressured into making a decision today.

  7. Spend the time to do research on the problem. It is very important to understand why you have mold in the first place and fix the whole problem.

  8. A company that will answer the tough questions: Why is there mold to begin with? Will the mold come back? Is the problem fixed for good? A consumer might not like the answer, but the reason for the mold must be fixed for good.

  9. A good company will follow manufacturer’s guidelines when applying the products. This is very important.

The important thing to understand about mold removal is that it MUST be done correctly the first time. The entire problem must be solved. There is NEVER a case when mold should be air dried and left. Many mold removal companies offer a band aide solution and we do not under any circumstances recommend this approach.

What to avoid when selecting a business in this industry:

  1. A business that does not show you their insurance. If someone is injured on the job and is not insured the consumer may be liable. Why take that chance?

  2. A business that is not certified in Mold Remediation and Water Damage. Mold is not something to mess around with and it is important to have the most qualified people working for you.

  3. A business that uses an in-house lab. It is important to have a 3rd party qualified lab to do the testing.

  4. A business that plays price games.

  5. A business that will not provide you a detailed estimate.

  6. A business that does not do the research for you as to why you have mold. This can not be stressed enough.

  7. A business that will not let you call customers. Most happy clients are happy to talk.

  8. You get what you pay for. If you want to remove mold perminently, you may need to pay a little more, but in most cases it is money well spent.

  9. A business that make guarantees that appear too good to be true.

  10. When getting a bid, make sure you receive the total cost of the job. This is very important because there are a lot of price games in this industry.
