Hardwood Floors

What to look for when selecting an ethical hardwood flooring contractor:

When selecting any contractor to do work on your next hardwood flooring project you should select a contractor that:

  1. Shows you their business license before being asked.

  2. Explains the need to verify that their contractor’s license is legitimate.

  3. Shows you a copy of their insurance cover letter.

  4. Verify and actually call references.

  5. Ask how they handle problems and complaints.

  6. Understand the warranty completely.

  7. Get everything in writing, make sure what is in the contract is actually what is going into your business.

  8. Never be pressured into making a decision today.

  9. Verify that what is being installed is exactly what you are paying for.

  10. Make sure they are qualified to install.

  11. The wood needs proper time to cure. Make sure it is done correctly.

The important thing to understand about a hardwood flooring company is to make sure that you are comfortable with the company that is installing the floors. If a mistake is made the warranty is null and void.

What to avoid when selecting a business in this industry:

  1. Companies that do not show you their insurance policy.

  2. Companies that play price games.

  3. Companies that will not provide you a detailed estimate.

  4. Companies that ask for excessive deposits.

  5. Companies that apply pressure.

  6. Companies that will not let you call customers. Most happy clients are happy to talk.

  7. You get what you pay for. If you want qualified and licensed installers, you may need to pay a little more, but in most cases it is money well spent.

  8. Companies that make guarantees that appear too good to be true. Make sure that the wood has time to cure, in many cases 16 days.

  9. There is a tremendous amount of bait and switch being played in this industry.

  10. It can not be emphasized enough to get the whole price. The yard per square foot is VERY misleading.

  11. Make sure it is installed professionally as to manufacturer’s specifications.

After interviewing and running an extensive background check the National Association Against Consumer Fraud has awarded the following business a listing in The Business A-List:

BD’s Hardwood Floors, Inc.

12220 Raven Ridge
Raleigh, NC 27614
Phone (919) 847-7444

Why BD's Hardwood Floors, Inc was offered the opportunity to be a Business A-List participant?

We have spent a tremendous amount of time meeting with flooring companies in the Triangle area. This was an industry where it truly is buyer beware. If the right company is not selected there will be major problems with your flooring and in many cases the warranty is void.

The Raybon family really takes pride in their work and making sure that the floors are not only as you expect in appearance, but that they are done correctly.

Making sure that the installation is done correctly is a major problem in this industry, and only a few are truly qualified.
