Day
Spa
What to look for when selecting an ethical day spa:
When selecting a day spa
for that special someone or to pamper yourself you
should select a spa that:
The entire staff is certified
and experienced in their own specialty.
It is beneficial if the spa
owner has a background in spa therapies,
preferably a licensed Beauty Industry
professional.
The spa itself should be a
clean, safe, calming and nurturing environment.
It should have private treatment rooms for each
client receiving a personal service, larger
spa's should include showering and changing
facilities for women and men, and spa robes and
shoes for all sizes.
It is important to make sure
that you are comparing apples to apples.
The spa should use safe and
natural professional products with the highest
quality ingredients, not only in retail but in
spa services as well. A good ethical day spa
will spend the time to build a relationship with
you so they may better cater to your individual
needs.
A good Day Spa will also have
a line of professional products that the
therapists can recommend for home care between
visits to the spa.
A good day spa will allow
plenty of time for the services and not try to
rush clients in and out.
A seating area or relaxation
room should be available.
It is important that you feel
comfortable as soon as you step foot in the day spa.
Before purchasing a package it is wise to visit the
spa to get a tour and meet some of the staff.
It can not be emphasized enough that
there is a big difference between the quality of
service, staffs and environment among day spas.
Also, it is wise to do some
research. Just because a facility looks impressive
doesn't necessarily mean they are knowledgeable
about spa therapies. Paying more for services does
not guarantee better service, nor does paying less
necessarily mean poor quality services.
As a simple test, ask any day spa;
what defines their spa? If they do not include or
offer water therapy in their treatments, such as
hydrotherapy, Vichy or Swiss shower body treatments,
you may want to look elsewhere. A spa isn't just
"a place to relax", as some would suggest. What to avoid when
selecting a day spa:
Any
spa that does not have separately licensed
Professionals, i.e. Estheticians, Massage
Therapists, and Nail Technicians (if offered).
Any
spa that does not incorporate water therapy into
their services, i.e. Vichy or Swiss Shower for
body treatments.
Spas
that began as tanning salons , nail salons, or
hair salons usually do not qualify as a real spa
based on services offered.
Any
spa that will not allow you to see their
facilities before purchasing.
Any
spa that does not take the time to get to know
what your needs and desires are.

Why B. Roman Skin and Body
Therapy was offered the opportunity to be a Business A-List participant?
Mrs. Roman is one of the few
that holds the coveted international CIDESCO Diploma, the highest earned
title for estheticians in the world and she also has 20 years experience
in the spa industry. She pioneered separate licensing for estheticians and
helped develop curriculum for schools.
The entire staff consists of
licensed, experienced professionals with several staff members having
worked with the spa over 5 years. Staff turnover is very low and their
high standards attract a more qualified group of professionals. In
addition, the staff receive training in the spa on an ongoing basis.
