Carpets

What to look for when selecting an ethical carpeting contractor:

When selecting any contractor to do work on your next carpeting project you should select a contractor that:

  1. Shows you their business license before being asked.

  2. Explains the need to verify that their contractor’s license is legitimate.

  3. Shows you a copy of their insurance cover letter.

  4. Verify and actually call references.

  5. Ask how they handle problems and complaints.

  6. Understand the warranty completely.

  7. Get everything in writing, make sure what is in the contract is actually what is going into your business.

  8. Never be pressured into making a decision today.

  9. Verify that what is being installed (carpet and pad) is exactly what you are paying for.

  10. Make sure they have a physical local address.

The important thing to understand about a carpeting company is to make sure that you are comfortable with the company you select.

What to avoid when selecting a business in this industry:

  1. Companies that do not show you their insurance policy.

  2. Carpet companies that play price games.

  3. Companies that will not provide you a detailed estimate.

  4. Companies that ask for excessive deposits.

  5. Companies that apply pressure.

  6. Companies that will not let you call customers. Most happy clients are happy to talk.

  7. You get what you pay for. If you want qualified and licensed installers, you may need to pay a little more, but in most cases it is money well spent.

  8. Companies that make guarantees that appear too good to be true. There is no such thing as free pad and installation.

  9. There is a tremendous amount of bait and switch being played in this industry.

  10. It can not be emphasized enough to get the whole price. The yard per square foot is VERY misleading.
