What to look for when selecting an ethical Window Treatment Company:

  1. Call more than one company to get a baseline for the pricing. Make sure you can understand the reasons for the lowest and highest priced options.

  2. Look for a company that will give you more than one option and type of window treatment.

  3. Look for a company that will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each option and fully explains the price difference. Compare the quality. Have them show you samples.

  4. Be present when the company representative measures your windows so if there are any issues they can be addressed, such as unevenness.

  5. They should be able to show a copy of license and insurance if asked.

  6. Look for companies that will provide references.

  7. To avoid hidden charges, make sure what is in the contract is actually going into your home or business. Read the contract carefully and make sure it's detailed and itemized.

  8. Never be pressured into making a decision in one day, you may be offered incentives to hurry and sign a contract. Today's price should be the same as tomorrows.

  9. 50% deposit is reasonable for custom window treatment orders.

  10. Don't be afraid to stay in touch with your window treatment company during the process so if problems arise they can be attended to before its too late.

  11. Look for a company that fully explains their warranty.

What to avoid when selecting a company in this industry: 

  1. A company that does not show you their insurance. If someone is injured on the job and is not insured, the consumer may be liable. Why take that chance?

  2. Companies that will not provide you a detailed estimate, everything needs to be in writing before you place any orders.

  3. Companies that ask for excessive deposits.

  4. Companies that pressure you into buying today.

  5. Companies that will not let you call customers.

  6. You get what you pay for. If you want a qualified and licensed specialist, you may need to pay a little more, but in most cases it is money well spent.

  7. It is also our opinion to stay away from companies and individuals that do not specialize in window treatments.

  8. A Company that does not do criminal background checks on its worker's.
