Day
Spa
What to look for when
selecting an ethical Day Spa:
-
Make
sure to stop in and take a tour of any new spa
you're considering. While touring a spa, make
sure to keep your eyes open for any "red
flags" that indicate unsanitary conditions.
Look at the drains in wet rooms and showers,
inquire about the sanitation procedure of
pedicure equipment, and most importantly, check
the wax pots. Make sure that the spa is using
new utensils for each client.
-
Observe
other clients within the spa during your tour,
starting in the lobby. Notice if they seem
relaxed and comfortable.
-
The
most important thing is to feel comfortable with
each therapist. It's acceptable to request a
male or female therapist if it makes you feel
more comfortable. It's also acceptable in most
cases to be clothed if you are more comfortable.
-
Request
to meet your therapist before your appointment.
-
Remember;
arrive at the spa 15 minutes prior to your
treatment time so you do not delay your
treatment starting time.
-
Look
for a spa that doesn't focus on selling you the
largest package they offer.
-
Make
sure the spa makes you complete a medical
questionnaire before any treatment is done.
-
It's
our opinion that the therapist should represent
the spa. Look for professional, courteous,
pleasant and cleanly dressed therapists.
-
Make
sure the spa asks you to complete a medical
questionnaire and reviews the information with
you prior to your treatment.
Questions to ask when
selecting a company in this industry:
-
How long has the spa been in
business?
-
How long has the therapist been
practicing?
-
Are you licensed by the state?
-
Are all the therapists and
technicians licensed?
-
What are the benefits of the
treatments?
-
Can the staff fully explain to
your satisfaction the treatments you are
interested in?
What to avoid when
selecting a business in this industry:
-
Avoid
a spa that doesn't have licenses of all
therapists on display for each client to view.
-
A
spa or therapist that is not on time.
-
Avoid
a therapist that doesn't take your lead, and
talks without you initiating the conversation.
-
Be
leery of a therapist who seems disinterested in
you. They should inquire about previous
treatments you have had and communicate to you
during treatments if you ask questions.
-
A
spa that's not clean.
-
A
spa which seems more interested in selling
packages than discussing your needs.

After interviewing and running an
extensive background check the National Association
Against Consumer Fraud has awarded the following
business a listing in The Business A-List:

Allure
Medical Day Spa
1561 S. Alafaya Trail Suite 400
Orlando, FL 32828
Phone (407) 382-2225
www.alluremdspa.com
The owners of Allure decided to open
a Medical Day Spa because we were disappointed in
the lack of services offered locally and the poor
customer service offered by smaller "spas"
in the Orlando area. Allure Medical Day Spa opened
in 2004 blending eastern treatments like
Acupuncture, and Reiki and western philosophies
including Microdermabrasion, medical facials, and
laser treatments in a tranquil spa environment.
Clients can enjoy couples' massage treatments in our
large couples' suite, or side-by-side nail
treatments while relaxing with a cup of tea or glass
of wine. Our talented staff is available for free
consultations to answer any questions you may have
about your skin type. As soon as you step inside
Allure you will be impressed by the professional
staff, décor and immediate sense of relaxation you
feel before and during and after your treatments.
