Hair
Transplants
What
to look for when selecting an ethical Hair
Transplant Physician:
-
There is no Physician Board
Certification for Hair Transplants.
-
Look for a Physician who is a
member of ISHRS (International Society of Hair
Restoration Surgery).
-
Look for a Physician who has
performed many procedures and has extensive
hands-on training in Hair Transplants. Make sure
the training the Physician received is not
mostly course work.
-
Look for a Physician who clearly
explains the techniques which they utilize. For
example, micro follicle technique provides a
more refined natural look.
-
Make sure they operate in
accredited medical facilities and have hospital
privileges if they perform office-based
procedures. Make sure the Physician follows OSHA
regulations on HIV and Hepatitis.
-
Select a Physician that
participates in continuing medical education
requirements, including standards and
innovations in patient safety.
-
Make sure the Physician
personally meets with you to explain the entire
process. Look for a Physician that clearly
explains if you are a candidate for surgical
hair replacement.
-
Choose a Physician that clearly
explains your options. There are usually
different options and procedures available.
-
Do they openly discuss the risks
of the surgery, or do they hide information
about the surgery to make you more comfortable?
-
Do they give you adequate time
to make an informed decision about the proposed
procedure and provide you with written
literature including before and after pictures
on discussed procedures?
Questions
to ask when selecting a business in this industry:
-
Are you a member of the
International Society of Hair Restoration
Surgery (ISHRS)?
-
How many actual procedures have
you performed?
-
Is your training comprised
mostly of course work or actual hands-on
experience?
-
Is the surgical facility
accredited? Do you follow OSHA regulations?
-
How many procedures have you
performed utilizing this specific technique? Why
do you recommend this technique?
-
Will the Physician consult one
on one with you and fully explain your options?
-
How many surgeries will it take
to accomplish my hair restoration goal?
-
Am I a good candidate for this
procedure?
-
Are there risks involved with
this procedure?
-
How long of a recovery period
can I expect, and what kind of help will I need
during my recovery?
-
Will I need to take time off
work? If so, how long?
