Screen Rooms

What to look for when selecting an ethical Screen Rooms Company:

  1. Check for a permanent place of business, telephone number, tax I.D. number and a business license. A professional will have these readily available.

  2. Make sure the company has a valid state contractor's license. Ask for a copy of the license and check with the state and make sure it's in good standing and is the proper license.

  3. Ask the company to show you proof of insurance. Ask to see certificates of general liability coverage and workers' compensation insurance. This will help protect your property and you from a lawsuit if a worker is injured on your property.

  4. Make sure the company is financially stable. A sound company should not ask for large deposits.

  5. Insist on a written proposal on company stationary and examine it for complete descriptions of the work and specifications. Included should be approximate start and completion dates and payment schedules.

  6. Carefully read, understand, and ask questions regarding any warranty offered and watch for provisions that would void it.

  7. Look for a company with a proven track record that allows you to call references to verify their work.

  8. Professionalism is very important. Be weary of any company that provides a low-ball bid. They might be using inferior products or not carry the proper insurance.

Questions to ask when selecting a company in this industry:

  1. Does my job require a Permit? If it does make sure the company pulls the permit. If a company asks you to do it they are probably not licensed.

  2. How long have you been in business?

  3. Will you let me call some of your past customers?

  4. Have you worked in my neighborhood before?

  5. What does the warranty cover? Parts, Labor and how long?

  6. Do you subcontract out your work, or will you bring only employees to my job site? If they subcontract can I see proof that their insured.

What to avoid when selecting a company in this industry:

  1. Companies without a permanent location or one that does not appear professional.

  2. A company that asks for a large deposit before starting a job.

  3. A company that needs a buying decision on the first visit.

  4. A company that hand writes an estimate on plain paper.

  5. A company that will not provide you proof of insurance.

  6. A company that asks you to pull a permit.

  7. Companies that do not perform criminal background checks on their workers.
