Mold and Indoor Air Testing

What to look for when selecting an ethical Mold & Indoor Air Testing Company:

  1. Look for a company that will show you a copy of their business license.

  2. Look for a company that will show you proof of General Liability and Errors and Omissions insurance.

  3. Look for a company that shows you their State Radon Certification.

  4. Mold testing should be provided by a certified technician, trained and certified specifically for mold testing.

  5. Look for a company that's a member of associations like the Environmental Solutions Association. Make sure they're a member and certified by the association.

  6. Look for a company that fully inspects your home and explains the testing that's available to you. If you are asking them to check for mold, ask them to provide references of mold removal companies they work with that are accredited.

  7. There are many factors that contribute to poor indoor air quality. Choose an indoor air quality specialist that is knowledgeable in educating consumers on all aspects of healthy indoor air. "Going Green is a viable alternative that is easy to do and impacts our environment and building occupants in a positive way.

  8. Look for a company that gives you a detailed contract on company letterhead that's specific as to what will be tested. Make sure there are no hidden costs.

  9. Make sure they provide a written report as well as laboratory test results. Find out what the turn around time is for receiving a written report. This is important for real estate transactions.

  10. Ask how they handle problems and complaints.

  11. Look for a company that does not pressure you into making a decision today.
