Before you sign a contract make sure you
understand all the terms of the agreement and
make sure it provides detailed information on
the work to be performed. Carefully
read, understand, and ask questions regarding
any warranty offered and watch for provisions
that would void it. Look
for a company with a proven track record and
provides references to verify their work. Professionalism
is very important. Look at how the company
represents itself during their first meeting
with you. Make
sure you've seen at least two examples of the
companies work. Check to see it they have a
showroom that displays there work. Have them
show you a portfolio to help you get ideas and
to see the quality of their work. Look
for a company that has nice lettered vehicles. Look
for a company that fully explains your options
and will work within your budget. Check
to see if they use their own employees to
install there product. If not, make sure the
subcontractor's have liability insurance and
workers' compensation. Questions
to ask when selecting a company in this industry:
How
long have you been in business? Do
you have a physical place of business? Will
you let me call some of your past customers? What
type of warranty do I receive? Is it a
manufacturer warranty? Do
you subcontract out your work, or will you bring
only employees to my job site? Are
your employees or subcontractors properly
insured? What to avoid when selecting a company in this industry:
Companies
that do not show you their insurance policy. Companies
that play price games. Companies
that will not provide you a detailed estimate
and a written itemized contract on company
stationary. Companies
that ask for excessive deposits. Companies
that apply pressure to purchase today. Companies
that will not let you call past customers. You
get what you pay for. If you want qualified
installers, you may need to pay a little more,
but in most cases its money well spent. Companies
that make guarantees that appear too good to be
true. Companies
that don't fully disclose price upfront. Companies
that do not perform criminal background checks
on their workers. |
